INTRODUCTION

Chromatography is a technique that is used widely and is important for analysis, separation and concentration of components from complex mixture. There are a few types of chromatography including thin layer chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), gas chromatography mass spectroscopy (GCMS), liquid chromatography mass spectroscopy (LCMS) and super-critical fluid chromatography (SFC). In food science and technology research, chromatography is widely used in separations and concentrations of protein, carbohydrate, amino acid, vitamin and secondary metabolic compositions in plants. Chromatography is also used to ensure quality and safety of food.

Hence, the main objective of the Chromatography Lab is to use chromatography technique as one of the main medium in food analysis. With fully equipped instruments, researchers and experienced support staff, Chromatography
Lab aims to be center of excellence in research.

OBJECTIVES

1. To discover new biological components for the development of food science and technology in Malaysia.
2. To find new chromatography analytical techniques for application in the development of food technology.
3. To be the center of excellence and pioneer in chromatography analysis by providing the best expertise and services.
4. To provide analysis service and consultation to the government, public and private sectors.
