KITAKYUSHU, 14 FEBRUARY 2026 – A delegation of 24 students from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has successfully completed a 14-day Student Mobility Program at the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), Japan. Held from February 1st to 14th, 2026, this academic initiative was organized in close strategic collaboration with the UPM International Centre (iPUTRA). This partnership was established to expose participants to advanced technological ecosystems and global sustainability practices that serve as the backbone of Japan's leading industries.

Throughout the program, the students underwent an intensive learning syllabus across the Tobata and Iizuka campuses. Beyond formal lecture hall sessions, the group of 24 students gained firsthand insights into industrial excellence and green technology through comprehensive visits to Toyota Motor Kyushu Inc., the Kitakyushu Eco Town Center, and Shabondama Soap. This experiential learning was further enriched by specialized modules on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a visit to the Kitakyushu Environment Museum, emphasizing the holistic integration of technology in environmental preservation.

In addition to the rigorous academic schedule, participants were immersed in the cultural beauty and unique winter season of Japan. One of the most memorable highlights for the students was the opportunity to experience playing in the snow, an exhilarating moment for the delegation from a tropical country. This activity, alongside intensive Japanese language classes and social interactions with local Kyutech students in Kokura, further strengthened the cross-cultural ties between the two nations.

The mobility initiative culminated in a meaningful closing ceremony and farewell party at the Nakamura Centenary Memorial Hall on February 13th. The success of this initiative not only adds significant value to the students' academic profiles but also underscores UPM's dedication to producing human capital that is attuned to global sustainability issues through high-quality international exposure. All participants departed for Malaysia on February 14th, carrying with them new experiences and inspiration to be applied in their respective fields of study.
