EXPERTISE CONTRIBUTION OF FSTM MEMBERS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MALAYSIA FOOD SAFETY INDEX

Tanjung Malim, 18 December 2025 - A workshop for the development of the government domain scoring rubric for the Malaysia food safety index was held on 16 - 18 December 2025, located at the Hospitality Training Center Scholar’s Suite, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). This engagement session was a joint collaboration between the Institute for Health Behavioural Research (IPTK) and the Food Safety and Quality Program (PKKM). Reference experts from ministries, agencies, academia, and non-governmental organizations were also involved. The workshop was attended by Dr. Nurul Hawa Ahmad, as the representative of UPM.

The development of the national food safety index aims to measure the success of food safety implementation throughout the food supply chain. The food safety index development committee also includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Khaizura Mahmud @ Ab Rashid.. The first series of this engagement session was held at the National Center for Food Safety (NCFS), Sepang on 16 July 2025 and subsequently at the National Institutes of Health, Shah Alam from 3 to 4 September 2025.
