Serdang, 21 November 2025 - The Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has once again implemented its career development program, FSM Career Boost 2.0. This program plays a vital role in helping final-year students of the Bachelor of Food Service Management (with Honours) (BSPPMdK) and Bachelor of Food Studies with Honours (BSPMdK) prepare to face an increasingly challenging job market. The two-day program, which took place on November 15 and November 21, 2025, brought together experienced speakers and industry representatives from various sectors.

The program began on November 15 with an intensive session focusing on preparation for industrial training, careers, and resume writing enhancement. Final-year BSPPMdK and BSPMdK students received insights related to industrial training experiences and improved their resumes with guidance from faculty facilitators. Subsequently, the students attended a briefing by Mr. Koh Mui Han, a consultant and TalentCorp fellow, who shared guidelines and tips for facing industrial training and job interviews. Students were also exposed to ways to adapt in the workplace and enhance their potential.

FSM Career Boost 2.0 continued on November 21 with a career talk session that provided direct exposure to developments in the food industry, opportunities for industrial training, and post-graduation employment. Students also had the chance to interact with invited industry representatives from three leading organizations: ZUS Coffee, Mesra Retail and Cafe Sdn. Bhd., and Putrajaya Leisures and Services Group Sdn Bhd (PULSE Group).

Each organization introduced industrial training opportunities and positions suitable for the students' fields of study. The industry representatives also shared relevant topics according to their sectors. ZUS Coffee discussed the role of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the food and beverage sector, especially in coffee chain operations. The speaker from Mesra Retail and Cafe Sdn. Bhd. highlighted the development of food and beverage businesses in the retail sector. The program continued with an inspiring sharing session from PULSE Group, which provided an outlook on the future of careers in the hospitality field and the latest changes in hotel operations. The entire session was designed to ensure students understand the current industry reality while simultaneously building relevant networks for their future careers.

The program director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Fatimah Mohamad, hopes that the continuous organization of FSM Career Boost 2.0 can become an annual platform that strengthens FSTM UPM’s support for the Graduate Employability Strategic Plan under the Ministry of Higher Education. She also emphasized that this consistent effort is crucial for producing quality graduates who continue to be the industry's choice.
