On 14th and 15th August 2019, eight food safety researchers from the Faculty (Prof. Dr. Jinap Selamat, Prof. Dr. Son Radu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faizal Abdull Razis, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maimunah Sanny, Dr. Rashidah Sukor, Dr. Nik Iskandar Putra Samsudin, Dr. Nuzul Noorahya Jambari, and Dr. Noor Azira Abdul Mutalib) together with their respective postgraduate students have participated in the Malaysia Research University Network Universiti Putra Malaysia-Kasetsart University (MRUN UPM-KU) Postgraduate Colloquium (for students) and Research Forum (for researchers) held at the Mini Auditorium 2, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation Building, UPM.
This programme was financially supported by the Malaysia Research University Network (MRUN) to strengthen the cooperation between Malaysia and Southeast Asian universities. Kasetsart University (KU), as the proponent in agricultural research in Thailand, was invited as a collaborator for this programme, and represented by its Vice President for Research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siree Chaiseri. This programme was officiated by the UPM Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof. Dato' Dr. Zulkifli Idrus. A total of 80 postgraduate students and researchers have participated in this programme. The research topic presented during the colloquium session covered food safety and quality, animal welfare and husbandry, as well as crop protection and cultivation. The research forum session provided a platform among the researchers for exchanging ideas between participants, identify and promote solutions, and most importantly to come up with an international joint research proposal for the development of Agriculture and Food Security between UPM and KU.
