CAMERON HIGHLANDS, 23 July 2025 - In an effort to strengthen Malaysia's cocoa industry, a Malaysian Standard (MS) Development Workshop under NSC 1/WG 4 – Working Group on Cocoa Bean Specification was conducted from 21 to 23 July 2025 at Zenith Hotels & Resorts, Cameron Highlands. The workshop was chaired by YBrs. Encik Shahrir Azmie Bin Saidon @ Abdul Majid from the Malaysian Cocoa Board. Assoc. Prof. Dr Ahmad Faizal Abdullah Razis, a lecturer from the Department of Food Science, Faculty of Food Science and Technology, UPM, also took part as a Permanent Member of the Working Group, focusing on cocoa safety and quality standards.

Participants also joined a technical field visit to the LKM Cocoa Plantation in Bagan Datuk, Perak, which offered practical insights into the real-world application of cocoa standards. The visit significantly contributed to refining the contents of the standard document currently being developed.

The continuous involvement of NSC 1/WG 4 members throughout the workshop demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the quality of Malaysia’s cocoa industry and aligning national standards with international benchmarks.
