Sepang, 23 September 2025 – Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Faizal Abdull Razis, a food toxicology expert from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), was invited as a guest speaker for the Training on Food Additive and Contaminant Toxicology program held from 23 to 25 September 2025 at Holiday Inn Sepang, KIP Sentral, Kota Warisan, Selangor. The program was organized by the Secretariat of the International Food Safety Training Centre (IFSTC), Malaysia under the Food Safety and Quality Programme, Ministry of Health Malaysia. The training emphasized the importance of toxicology and its significant contributions to food safety at both national and international levels.
A total of 24 participants from various industry and private sectors attended the training. The program explored the critical role of toxicology in the development of food safety policies related to food additives and food contaminants that exist today. Dr. Ahmad Faizal also shared his expertise on the importance of risk assessment and risk management in food safety, as well as mitigation measures. His contribution provided great benefits to the participants, particularly industry players, while further strengthening UPM’s position as a center of excellence in knowledge recognized nationally and globally in the field of food security.
