Serdang, 25 November 2025 - The Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), continues to strengthen strategic networks with global industry as the Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UPM and MONIN Asia KL Sdn. Bhd. was held on November 25, 2025, at L’apprenti Putra Restaurant, Food 6, FSTM UPM.

The MoU signing ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia, and Ms. Daphne Wong Lee Soo, Country Manager of MONIN Malaysia, witnessed by the university and faculty management line-up.

This collaboration is an important step in strengthening the strategic relationship between academia and industry, particularly in the fields of food science, food service, and beverage innovation. Through this MoU, both parties will collaborate on joint research, innovative product development, student industrial training, and technology transfer that benefits UPM students and researchers.

The ceremony was also enlivened with a Mixology demonstration session themed "Flavour Alchemy – Mix, Shake & Pour with MONIN," conducted by the Beverage Innovator of MONIN Asia KL. This session provided an opportunity for FSTM members and guests to explore creativity in the art of producing innovative beverages that combine food science knowledge and modern culinary arts.

This strategic collaboration also supports the aspirations of the Bachelor of Science in Food Service and Management (BSPPMdk) Program under FSTM, which emphasizes industry-embedded learning. Through this collaboration, students will gain broader learning opportunities relevant to global market needs, thereby enhancing the employability of UPM graduates in the food and hospitality industry.

This ceremony symbolizes UPM's commitment to continue leading high-impact academia–industry collaborations and strengthening the university's role as a leader in world-class academic excellence, research, and innovation.
