FOOD ANALYSIS TRAINING 2023

22 SEPTEMBER 2023 – The Food Analysis Training 2023 program held from 19 to 22 September 2023 at the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, has involved a total of 51 participants for the theory session, and 21 participants for the practical session. The participants involved consist of lecturers, researchers, laboratory officers, and students from government and private agencies such as Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Monash University, Department of Agriculture Malaysia, Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), Food Safety and Quality Division (BKKM), Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), MY CO2 (KL) Sdn. Bhd. and Merieux Nutrisciences Sdn. Bhd.

This program is part of a project for Human Resource Development in Food-Related Areas (HRD-Project) through a partnership with Universities in the ASEAN region - Phase 3 under funding from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Japan. The objective of this program is to develop human resources in food-related fields at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and related local entities and organizations including food-related government agencies in the ASEAN region.

This 4-day program is divided into 2 sessions, which are 2 days for lecture/theory sessions and 2 days for practical sessions/hands-on training with experts from Japan. The course content for the lecture/theory session is Basic Understanding of Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS) and the Testing Methods, Functional Components (Functional Foods), International Standardization in Food Industry, and ISO/IEC17025, while the course content for the practical session/hands-on training is JAS0024 (Determination of the procyanidins in apple juice – HPLC method).
