SERDANG, 3 JULY 2025 – A total of 40 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tun Perak (SMKTP), Muar participated in the Santuni MADANI Programme, jointly organised by Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) and the Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The programme aimed to provide early exposure to secondary school students on the halal industry ecosystem and the field of food science through academic visits and engagement with industry experts.
The students were welcomed with opening remarks by Associate Professor Dr. Nur Hanani Zainal Abedin, Deputy Dean (Development and Networking), and Mr. Hairol Ariffein Sahari, Chief Executive Officer of HDC, who also serves as CEO@PTJ FOSTECH, UPM. A briefing session was also delivered by Mr. Mohd. Rohazwan Zakaria, Senior Manager of Industry Development at HDC, introduces the Halal Occupational Framework.
The students were then taken on a tour of FSTM’s research facilities, including the Food Processing and Preservation Research Laboratory, followed by a visit to the Farm Fresh Dairy Farm at UPM. The programme concluded with a certificate presentation and photo session, symbolising a strong partnership between industry and academia in nurturing future generations.
