Seremban, 29 June 2026 – A total of 36 third-year students of the Bachelor of Food Science and Management Quality (BSPMK) conducted an industrial visit to Yakult (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, accompanied by Dr. Maryam 'Adilah Binti Zainal Arifin for the course FST4825: Food Legislation. This visit aimed to expose students to the application of food legislation, food safety, and regulatory compliance in the food industry, aligning with the learning outcomes of the course.

Yakult (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is a well-known producer of probiotic cultured milk drinks in Malaysia. As a food company operating under strict safety and quality standards, this visit was highly relevant in helping students understand the importance of compliance with food legislation, food labeling, quality control, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in the real industry.

The visit session began with an introductory briefing on the history of Yakult's establishment, the products manufactured, and the role of probiotic bacteria in improving gut health. Students were also briefed on Yakult's production process and the food safety control measures practiced by the company.

Next, the students were taken on a tour of the Yakult processing plant to witness firsthand the product manufacturing process, starting from the preparation of bacterial culture, the fermentation process, packaging, right up to product storage. In addition, students were exposed to the implementation of quality control procedures, hygiene, and compliance with food legislation requirements to ensure that the products produced are safe and of high quality.

The visit continued with a question-and-answer session, providing an opportunity for students to interact directly with the company's representatives and obtain further information regarding food industry management as well as the challenges in ensuring compliance with food regulations. Before the visit concluded, a souvenir presentation session to the Yakult representative and a photo session were held as a token of appreciation for the hospitality and knowledge sharing provided.

In conclusion, this industrial visit provided a highly meaningful experience and exposure to the students in understanding the application of food legislation and food safety control systems in the real industry. The knowledge gained is expected to enhance the students' understanding of the importance of regulatory compliance and quality management in guaranteeing the safety and quality of food products.
