KUALA LUMPUR, 21 MAY 2026 - On Thursday, 21 May 2026, the FoodSmart Kids @ School Program was successfully conducted at SJK(C) Tai Thung with active participation from school children, teachers, university students, and industry collaborators.
Organised in association with the course subject FSM4706 Institutional Foodservice Management, this program provided students with valuable experiential learning opportunities in planning and managing foodservice activities within an institutional setting.
One of the key learning outcomes of the program was understanding the importance of meeting the different nutritional and service needs of specific population groups in institutional foodservice operations. Working with primary school children allowed students to appreciate how foodservice planning goes beyond food preparation — it also involves understanding age-appropriate nutritional requirements, food preferences, portion suitability, food safety, and effective engagement strategies within institutional environments such as schools.
