FSTM'S MOBILITY PROGRAM TO THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, IPB UNIVERSITY

BOGOR, INDONESIA, 27-29 JANUARI 2026 - The Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organised an academic mobility programme to the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Fakultas Teknologi dan Teknik) and the South-East Asia Food and Agricultural Science and Technology (SEAFAST) Centre, Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB University), Indonesia, from 27 to 29 January 2026. The programme was led by Associate Professor Dr. Nur Hanani Zainal Abedin, assisted by Dr. Foong Han Lyn and Dr. Maryam ‘Adilah Zainal Arifin, and involved four postgraduate students from the Faculty as well as facilitators of the Smart Scientist programme. The mobility programme aimed to strengthen academic collaboration between the two institutions and to broaden exposure in the fields of food science, processing technology, and environmentally friendly packaging.

The FSTM delegation was welcomed by lecturers from IPB University and participated in discussion sessions focusing on research in sustainable packaging materials, food processing and technology, and food safety. The discussions also covered the potential for future mobility programmes, research collaborations, and the organisation of joint activities between both institutions. These sessions provided a platform for strengthening strategic partnerships and long-term cooperation.

The programme continued with a discussion session involving students from IPB University, focusing on the sharing of research outcomes by students from UPM and IPB. In addition, the delegation visited the IPB University campus and laboratories to observe research facilities and ongoing academic activities.

The visit to the SEAFAST Centre included knowledge-sharing sessions on previously developed food innovation projects. The FSTM delegation also had the opportunity to visit the coffee laboratory at the Centre, where research related to coffee roasting and brewing is conducted.

Overall, the mobility programme reflects FSTM UPM’s commitment to strengthening international networks, enriching academic experiences, and supporting knowledge development through strategic mobility initiatives and research collaborations at the regional level.
