SERDANG, 10 JANUARY 2026 - A total of 160 third-year and fourth-year students from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) participated in the GEAR UP: Your Pre-Internship Toolkit! program organized by the Students' Representative Council of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology (MPPFSTM) for the 2025/2026 Session.

This program was held on January 10, 2026 (Saturday) at Auditorium 2, Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM, with the primary objective of helping students make early preparations before undergoing industrial training.

GEAR UP: Your Pre-Internship Toolkit! was designed to provide comprehensive exposure to students in terms of mental preparation, practical skills, self-confidence, and understanding regarding the world of work. Through this program, students are expected to bridge the gap between learned academic theory and actual industry practice, subsequently producing graduates who are more prepared, proactive, and competitive.

The program featured a lineup of experienced speakers from various backgrounds, namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Radhiah Shukri, Deputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology; Dr. Saiful Amin Jalun, Lead Advisor of UKM UNIPEQ; Mr. Koh Mui Han, Principal Consultant of ChangeDynamics Consulting; and Mrs. Nor Adilah Che Abdul Razak, a student of the Counseling Department, Universiti Putra Malaysia.

The insights shared covered topics related to preparations before industrial training, soft skills, emotional management, work ethics, and industry expectations towards internship students. This session also provided an opportunity for students to interact directly with the speakers and obtain practical guidance based on real experiences.

Overall, this program successfully achieved its organizational objectives and received positive feedback from the participants. It is hoped that the organization of programs like this can be continued in the future to support the holistic development of students of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, UPM.
