SERDANG, 13 FEBRUARY 2026 - The Double Tax Deduction (DTD) initiative is one of the strategic efforts implemented by the Pusat Pengurusan Penyelidikan (RMC), UPM, to diversify the research funding sources for the researchers across faculties and institutes. The Office of the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate, Research and Innovation (PTDSPI), Faculty of Food Science and Technology, organised a DTD briefing session for researchers and staff to provide early exposure to the programme.

The briefing session lasted approximately one and a half hours and commenced with opening remarks by the secretariat. This was followed by a detailed presentation delivered by Mr. Azizi Mohd Ali, Head of Funding Section at the Funding Section & Research Grant Application and Agreement Section, Pusat Pengurusan Penyelidikan (RMC). He has served at RMC for the past two years and is the person-in-charge for promoting the DTD initiative at the industry level. The session concluded with a token of appreciation presented by Ms. Zaireen Zakaria, Senior Assistant Registrar of PTDSPI, followed by a breakfast reception.

The briefing provided faculty members with valuable insights into alternative avenues for advancing research development within the Faculty. Participants were introduced to effective strategies for pitching research proposals to industry partners, as well as the relevant legislative frameworks governing the DTD scheme. It is hoped that this initiative will further strengthen the Faculty of Food Science and Technology’s capacity to generate high-quality research in the future.
