PUTRAJAYA, 7 May 2025 – The Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) marked a significant achievement as a co-organiser of the National Agro-Food Engineering Conference (NAFEC) 2025, which took place from 6 to 7 May 2025 at the Multipurpose Hall of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM), Putrajaya.
The event successfully attracted participation from academics, researchers, industry players, and students from across the country to share research findings and the latest innovations in the field of agricultural and food engineering.
During the event, FSTM also clinched two prestigious awards. Dr. Asyrul Izhar Abu Bakar from the Department of Food Technology was awarded the Silver Medal in the Postharvest and Food Engineering category for his research presentation titled "Effect of Mixing Time on the Physicochemical Properties of Buffalo Patties with Olive Oil as Fat Replacer." The study also involved co-researchers Nurul Naqibah Pambi, Dr. Nurul Izzah Khalid, Faridah Mohd Razali, and Associate Professor Dr. Ismail Fitry Mohammad Rashedi.
Meanwhile, a graduate of the Bachelor of Science (Food Studies) with Honours (BSPMK) programme, Nur Aziemah Adilah Asming, secured second place in the MSAE Thesis Award 2024 (Undergraduate) category for her thesis supervised by Dr. Nurul Izzah Khalid, entitled "Optimization of Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) Procedures of Milk Fouling Deposit Using Different Cleaning Parameters."
This achievement is a testament to FSTM’s commitment in supporting research and development in the national food industry, in line with Universiti Putra Malaysia’s aspiration to remain at the forefront in the field of food science and technology.
FSTM remains dedicated to producing high-quality research and strengthening collaborations with industry players and the academic community at both national and international levels.
