On 29th April 2019, the third year undergraduate students of Bachelor of Food Science and Technology (BSTM) have organised a New Food Product Development Launching Day 2019. This event is compulsory as the requirement of the FST4828 (New Food Product Development) course. During this event, the students showcased their food science and technology knowledge to create a new food product based on the market demands. The themes were sausage-based, soft ice cream-based, herbal-based, and legume-based.
Each new food product was evaluated by invited professionals from the food industry, with Prof. Dr. Hasanah Mohd Ghazali served as Head Judge. The judges from the industry were:
Eight groups have competed in this event, namely Group A (Cicer Bites Sdn. Bhd.; product: “Wah-Day”), Group B (Suap Me Co.; product: “Chicken Satar Sausage”), Group C (Galaxy Gravity Sdn. Bhd.; product: “King Jello”), Group D (Palmney Sdn Bhd.; product: “Palmney Soft Ice Cream Premix”), Group E (Sadiya Enterprise; product: “VeSage”), Group F (Angularis Enterprise: “Red-dy Bean Slice”), Group G (ICY Ond Sdn. Bhd.; product: “Ondelicious”), and Group H (Yum Yum Enterprise; product: “Kantanese”).
During this event, Aman Brothers Sdn. Bhd. (peanuts and snacks), and Farm Fresh Malaysia (dairy products) were the sponsors for all the prizes.
