OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY OF FOSCORNER

SERDANG, 27 MAY 2025 – On 27 May 2025 (Tuesday), the Official Opening Ceremony of FOSCorner was held, organized by the Commerce EXCO—Farzana, Sharifah Sufiah, Azzraei Mutmaien, and Kee Yan Qi—from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology Student Representative Council (FOSTECH) for the 2024/2025 session, in collaboration with the Student Affairs Division of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The event was attended by students from Year 1 to Year 4 of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology. The main objective of this event was to raise awareness among lecturers, staff, and students about the existence of FOSCorner and the products and services it offers. Additionally, the event symbolized the official launch of FOSCorner operations through a formal ceremony graced by speeches and hopes shared by FOSCorner Manager, Soh Pau Ching, and the Deputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Radhiah Binti Shukri. This initiative also serves as a platform for students to showcase their talents and promote entrepreneurship through the opening of a café within the faculty.

The Opening Ceremony took place over one hour, starting at 11:00 AM and ending at 12:00 PM, held physically at FOSCorner, Food 1, Faculty of Food Science and Technology. A total of 116 students attended the event. The organization of this event is a commendable initiative as the establishment of FOSCorner not only adds value to the faculty by providing beneficial services to students but also enhances the faculty’s image.

FOSCorner offers convenience to students by providing food and beverages while they are at the faculty, thus enhancing their comfort throughout their learning period. We also employ part-time student workers from FSTM to provide them with part-time job opportunities. Moreover, we offer a platform for FSTM community members to sell their products at FOSCorner, aiming to produce graduates who are talented in entrepreneurship. It is hoped that this initiative will have a positive impact on the students and the entire UPM community during their time at the faculty.
