SEPANG, 13 July 2026 – Associate Professor Dr. Nik Iskandar Putra Samsudin from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), was invited as the keynote speaker at the NCFS Technical Update 2026: Mycotoxin Contamination and Food Safety Issues, organised by the National Centre for Food Safety (NCFS), Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).
Held at the NCFS Multipurpose Hall, the programme brought together officers from the Ministry of Health Malaysia, academics, researchers, and industry representatives to discuss the latest developments in mycotoxin contamination, risk assessment, and science-based food safety management strategies.
During his presentation entitled "Five Decades (1975–2025) of Mycotoxin Research in Malaysian Food and Feed Systems: Past Progress, Present Focus, and Future Direction," Associate Professor Dr. Nik Iskandar highlighted the progress of mycotoxin research in Malaysia over the past five decades. His presentation covered the historical development of research, key achievements, current challenges, present research priorities, and future directions aimed at strengthening food and feed safety in Malaysia.
In addition to the knowledge-sharing session, the programme served as a platform for discussions and the exchange of ideas among experts, researchers, and industry practitioners on current issues related to mycotoxins and food safety. The session is expected to enhance participants' understanding of the importance of mycotoxin risk management in ensuring a safe and sustainable food supply.
The NCFS also presented a token of appreciation to Associate Professor Dr. Nik Iskandar in recognition of his contribution as an invited speaker. The programme concluded with a group photography session involving the organisers and participants.
