Serdang, 20 November 2025 - The Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM) was honoured to receive a courtesy call and official visit from a delegation of the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) on Thursday, 20 November 2025. The delegation represented the Faculty of Science & Technology (FST) USIM. This visit was a strategic initiative for both institutions to strengthen academic collaborations and exchange views and best practices in the management of postgraduate programmes.
The main purpose of the visit was to conduct a benchmarking exercise on the implementation and structure of the Master of Food Technology (MFT) programme offered by FSTM as a coursework-based programme. This benchmarking process is important for FST USIM as a reference in their efforts to enhance existing postgraduate programmes, making them more competitive and aligned with industry needs and current higher education standards. The focus of the discussion covered aspects of curriculum, teaching and learning methodologies, and programme evaluation.
This significant visit was attended by a total of seven (7) representatives from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. The FST USIM delegation was led by Prof. Madya Dr. Farah Wahida Harun, who currently serves as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science & Technology, USIM. Her presence and that of the other delegation members demonstrate USIM's serious commitment to ensuring the quality and academic excellence of the programmes they offer.
